Preet's medicines were at home. She rushed as quickly as she could, but on the way all she could see were happy couples.
"Mistake. Mistake. Mistake," she talked to herself as she worked at opening the house door. Entering, she first got hold of her medicine.
Damn, I love him.
"I love Karthik. Oh freaks, I love him!" she jumped around excited.
What do I do now? How can I rectify this? What if he's married or engaged?
Breathe Preet. Breathe.
I have to talk to him to find out. But how, I don't have his no.
But she had the Kerala company no. So Preet dialled the no. and asked the operator to connect her to Karthik.
"Hello," a boy answered.
"Can I speak to Karthik, please?" Preet asked.
"Sir's on leave for a few days. Could I take a message for him?" the boy replied.
"Could you give me his mobile number? I need to speak to him, urgently," she said.
The boy gave the number, but cautioned her that his boss might not take her call. Preet thanked him and kept the call.
Why wouldnt he take my call? He is getting married! He is definitely getting married. Damn! I should have checked with the boy.
She kept the mobile on her table. Sitting on the sofa, closed her eyes out of exhaustion. In that moment Karthik's smiling face flashed before her. She opened her eyes again and picked the mobile.
Let me message him. But what should I write? How does one message without being awkward or freaky or making a fool of oneself?
She typed a sentence, then deleted it. Then repeated the same thing a couple of times.
Breathe Preet, breathe.
Finally she typed a sentence and pressed the sent button. The message read -
