When a friend leaves, he/she/they always take a part of your life with them with them, which you are never going to get back. These several moments that take place between the said periods, we most definitely take them for granted. It is only when your friend moves on that you realise it’s worth.
And, the worst part is the moment when they leave you. My most definite memories are in the past when I have seen my friends move on. For Rodrigo, it was the street outside my house when both of us were crying. In the end, he had to run off. For Lyle, it was the walk at the station. We promised never to look back. I did however, break the promise! For my college friends it was again at the railway station – one last hug to each other. For Daisy, I was leaving in the bus, both of us were crying, and the poor driver couldn’t close the freaking door because of us. My other friends escorted me to my seat. For Tanny, it was her driving away in her wedding car.
For years now, these have also been my worst moments! For I have been uncertain of where our friendship will go from that point.Certain people are still in my life. I talk to them often; I see them once in a couple of years! But, with some, we just lost touch. I say ‘us’ because distance did it to us. Not to her/him/them or me, but to ‘us’.
Today I said goodbye to Vanessa. There were loads I wanted to tell her. But the years of departures have made me vulnerable. And now I hide my feelings instead!
That is why I am writing these lines in honour of all my relations that I lost/gained or something happened on the way types. However long or short your relation with me was, you still meant something to me and for that, I shall forever be grateful!
